Dog Behaviour Classes

If you want a well-behaved dog you are proud of, not ashamed of – you have come to the right place. Our classes quickly teach you how to gain control of your dog, and encourage them to be enthusiastic and eager to please.

“Hi Beate,  I just wanted to drop you a quick note to say thank you for all your help with Jazz.  We have made a lot of progress in such a short period of time.  I have a lot of fun in the sessions I can’t wait to sign up again and learn some more. Seeing Jazz improve every week is a thrill and I have no doubt it is all because of the tips and tricks I have learnt from your class.  I want you to know that I think your passion for animals and their proper development is awesome and the style of your class is laidback and fun-filled which is exactly what a Sunday morning puppy class should be.”

Thanks again – Chris and Jazz

Dogs that have shown any sign of aggression will need to be assessed before being allowed to attend.

Prices include the full tuition, notes and a graduation certificate. If you reside in the City of Glen Eira (they are the most pro-active council!), we also include a free assessment for an obedience certification, which enables you to receive the next year of council dog registration for free and 1/2 price for the rest of your dog’s life (more than paying for the course).

Dog Behaviour Classes are suitable for dogs of all ages and are held in Cheltenham on Saturday mornings (10.30 – 11.30) – no prior training is required. Classes run over a four-week period. (Course cost $180). There are usually about six dogs in each class and often multiple trainers to help.

Classes are held in a mix of indoors (away from distractions and unpredictable weather) and outdoors, including spending some time in the street and at a nearby park for loose leash walking and recall training.

We cover a wide range of topics, including helping people with any recurring issues and doing foundation work to encourage your dog to be naturally calmer and better behaved. We also teach how to best target unwanted behaviour. These classes are ideal for people who want to continue with further training after Puppy School or for those who need a little help issues such as :

  • Pulling on the lead
  • Inconsistent recall
  • excessive barking and excitement at the door bell or visitors or dogs
  • Excessive boisterous behaviour/barking
  • Jumping Up
  • General bad behaviour around the home
  • Destructive behaviour

Often the volunteer based Dog Schools and organizations haven’t the skills and offer the individual attention to help people with dogs that are not ‘easy’.

“I couldn’t recommend Alan and the classes more highly. Bonnie our 9 month Spaniel in four weeks of classes is so much calmer and more controlled at home and on the lead”. Julie Graham – Sandringham 2017
